CCTV Storage Guide:
How Many Days Can You Record?

One of the most common questions from new security camera owners is: "How far back can I view the footage?" The answer depends entirely on your storage medium, resolution, and recording settings.

1. MicroSD Cards (Edge Storage)

MicroSD cards are used primarily in wireless WiFi cameras. They are cheap and easy to install. A 64GB card recording continuously at 2MP (1080p) will typically give you 4 to 6 days of footage before it loops and overwrites the oldest data. If you switch to "Motion-Only Recording," a 64GB card can easily last 2 to 3 weeks.

2. NVR Hard Drives (Local Storage)

If you need weeks or months of continuous recording across multiple cameras, you need a Network Video Recorder (NVR) with a surveillance-grade Hard Disk Drive (HDD). For example, our 8-Channel NVR Kit equipped with a 2TB HDD can record 8 cameras continuously for roughly 12 to 15 days at 2MP.

3. Cloud Storage

Cloud storage saves your footage securely on off-site servers. If a burglar steals your physical camera, the footage is still safe online. However, cloud storage requires a monthly subscription and a fast, stable internet connection, which can be challenging in certain provincial areas of the Philippines.
